Custom packaging for UK drinks businesses
Create branded packaging for bottled drinks, cans, multipacks, subscription boxes and gift sets. We help UK retailers, online sellers, event businesses and growing drinks brands find custom beverage packaging that suits the product, sales channel and budget.
Our custom packaging service operates through quotation and approved supply partners. We do not claim to manufacture or print every format in-house. Available structures, minimum quantities, samples, lead times and branding options depend on your specification.
Tell us your container dimensions, required quantity, preferred box style, artwork status and delivery postcode. We will review your brief and confirm the available options.

Packaging formats
Custom beverage packaging boxes hold, protect and present sealed drink containers. Formats include folding cartons, bottle carriers, corrugated shipping boxes, printed sleeves and gift boxes with inserts.
These boxes serve as secondary or outer packaging. They do not replace the bottle, can, pouch or other container that holds the drink. Any material that touches a drink, open food or an unsealed product requires separate food-contact assessment and supplier documentation.
Compare structures
Container weight, pack count and route to the customer should guide your choice. A light paperboard carton may suit a retail shelf. A courier network may require a corrugated shipper, dividers and enough clearance for cushioning.
| Packaging format | Suitable uses | Protection level | Points to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Folding carton | Single cans, light bottles, tea, coffee and shelf packs | Light to medium | Board weight, base strength and closure |
| Bottle carrier with handle | Two, four or six bottles for shops, markets and events | Medium | Handle strength, bottle separation and total carry weight |
| Corrugated shipper | Parcel delivery, subscriptions and trade distribution | High | Board grade, dividers, void fill and courier testing |
| Printed sleeve | Can multipacks, trays and gift presentation | Light | Sleeve fit, exposed areas and carrying method |
| Gift box with insert | Wine, spirits, cocktail kits and premium sets | Medium | Insert fit, presentation and container movement |
| Divider or protective insert | Mixed bottles, cans and glass sets | Adds protection | Material, fit, disposal route and assembly time |
| Shelf-ready tray or carton | Retail displays and case-packed drinks | Medium | Shelf dimensions, tear-open design and stacking |
| Bag-in-box outer carton | Drinks supplied in an approved inner bag system | Product-specific | Tap position, load strength and inner-system compatibility |
Folding cartons, carriers and sleeves give you visible branding without the bulk of a parcel shipper. Consider shelf footprint, carrying comfort and the time your team needs to assemble each pack.
Rigid-style gift boxes, folding gift cartons and corrugated presentation boxes can hold bottles, drinkware or accessories. An insert helps keep each item in position. Foil, embossing and window panels can add cost, so test the structure and printed design before adding embellishments.
Choose a corrugated outer box for courier delivery. Glass bottles need separation and cushioning, while heavy can multipacks need strong bases and secure closures. Ask your carrier about weight limits and packaging rules, then run packed transit tests before launch.
Material specification
Paperboard gives you a smooth print surface and a compact retail format. Suppliers offer a range of board weights, so the correct choice depends on container weight, pack count and box construction. Paperboard suits many shelf packs, sleeves and presentation cartons.
Corrugated board places a fluted layer between liners. It offers more compression and impact protection than common folding carton board. Suppliers can propose flute and board grades for heavy bottles, stacked cases or parcel shipping after they review your packed weight and distribution route.
Card dividers stop glass bottles from striking each other. Die-cut inserts hold cans, jars or accessories in set positions. Paper cushioning can fill empty space in a shipping box.
Your supplier should test the complete packed unit. Container shape, cap profile and weight distribution can affect performance as much as the outer dimensions.
Chilled bottles and cans can create condensation. Untreated paper fibres can lose strength after they absorb moisture. Tell us if you plan to refrigerate the pack, fill it in a damp area or place cold containers inside it.
Coatings or moisture-resistant grades may help, but suppliers must confirm suitability. An outer box does not make a leaking drink container safe.
Plain paperboard and mono-material corrugated structures often give customers a clearer disposal route, subject to local collection rules. Plastic windows, foam inserts, foil layers and some laminates can create mixed-material packs that customers need to separate.
We avoid blanket claims such as “eco-friendly” or “fully recyclable” without evidence for the complete specification.
Brand and print
Custom drink packaging can carry your logo, colours, product information and campaign artwork. Your chosen print process affects setup cost, colour control and order economics.
Digital print can suit samples, version testing and lower quantity bands where the supplier offers it. It may reduce plate costs and make multiple designs easier to manage.
Lithographic or offset print can suit larger runs and detailed colour requirements. Suppliers may charge for plates or setup, so include those costs in your quote comparison.
Request the supplier’s artwork guide and dieline before your designer finishes the files. Most print specifications require outlined fonts, linked or embedded images, bleed and a defined colour mode. The supplier should confirm file type, resolution and colour-matching method.
Start a test project with the structural features you need. Add premium finishes after you confirm fit, assembly and customer response.

From measurements to approval
1
Record the container height, widest diameter or width, filled weight and closure shape. Include pumps, caps, crown tops and decorative seals in the measurements.
For a multipack, state the number of units and preferred arrangement. A six-pack may use a 3 × 2 layout, while a mixed gift set may need a bespoke insert.
2
3
Select a folding carton, carrier, sleeve, gift box or corrugated shipper. State your preferred board colour, print coverage and finish. We can use these details to discuss suitable quoted options.
4
Ask whether the supplier can provide a plain stock sample, a cut prototype or a printed production sample. Sample charges and availability depend on the structure and supply route.
Pack the sample with the intended products. Check fit, base strength, handle comfort, closure security and assembly time. For parcel orders, test the complete pack through a representative delivery route.
5
Review the dieline, artwork proof, dimensions and material specification. Confirm the production quantity, delivery address and VAT treatment before approval.
Custom packaging quantities do not inherit our standard catalogue’s no-minimum-order policy. Each supplier sets its own minimum run based on material, print process and tooling. Our no MOQ wholesale UK supplier information explains how flexible ordering applies across our standard wholesale range.
Prepare your specification
Compare the delivered cost per packed drink, rather than the box price on its own. Include artwork support, samples, tooling, print setup, inserts, VAT and UK delivery. Storage costs also count, since a low unit price can tie up cash and warehouse space if the order exceeds your sales rate.
Ask each supplier to separate one-off setup costs from repeat-order costs. Confirm whether the supplier will retain cutting tools and print files for your next run.
Before production artwork
Outer packaging may carry branding, barcodes and product information, but it does not replace any mandatory label on the drink container. UK rules can differ by product type and sales route.
Alcohol strength, allergens, ingredients, nutrition information, deposit-return markings and health claims may require specialist review. Regulations and scheme dates can change. Seek legal or regulatory advice for your product before approving production artwork.
Common packaging questions
Suppliers use folding carton paperboard and corrugated board for many drink packs. They may add card inserts, paper cushioning, plastic window film or specialist coatings. Container weight, moisture exposure and delivery method determine the suitable specification.
Supplier capabilities may cover custom dimensions, printed panels, handles, windows, closures and fitted inserts. Tooling, order quantity and board limitations affect availability. We confirm the quoted specification before you commit.
Most custom print runs carry a supplier minimum. The figure depends on box style, print method and setup requirements. Our no-MOQ proposition applies to eligible standard wholesale products, not to every bespoke packaging order.
You can include a sample request in your enquiry. Suppliers may offer plain samples, cut prototypes or printed samples and may charge for production or delivery. We will confirm available routes for your project.
Lead times depend on sampling, artwork approval, material availability, production capacity and UK transit. Ask for separate estimates for proofing, manufacture and delivery. Leave time for changes and transit testing before your launch date.
A suitable structure can hold sealed bottles and cans, including carbonated products. The primary container must contain the drink and pressure. The outer box needs enough strength for the filled weight, condensation risk and distribution route.
We can discuss cartons and carriers for sealed tea, coffee and drink-related gift products. Packaging for filled hot cups needs suitable cup, lid and carrier specifications. Ask about branded drink packaging options for your intended serving temperature and use.
The answer depends on the complete construction and local collection service. Plain card structures may offer a straightforward route. Laminates, windows, foam and mixed-material handles can affect recycling. Request supplier documentation before making claims.
Suppliers calculate prices from dimensions, board grade, quantity, print coverage, tooling, finishes, inserts and delivery. A complete brief gives us enough information to seek a useful quotation.
